Leeds United winger Raphinha does plan to quit the Whites at the end of the season – but has one final hope left for his time with West Yorkshire outfit.
The Brazilian has elevated his status to new levels after starring for Brazil in recent months. As such, it is no surprise to see Leeds looking to reward their star man with a bumper new deal.
And while Raphinha still has over two years still left on his current deal, Leeds want to extend his stay and make him their highest earner in the process.
However, worrying reports of late have stated that Raphinha has twice rejected Leeds’ attempts to extend his stay.
Indeed, the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, PSG, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are all admirers. As such, Raphinha may have his pick of a plethora of clubs come the end of the season.
And, with Raphinha having nine goals and two assists this season from 25 Premier League appearances, it’s easy to see why he’s man in demand.
Leeds can expect to fetch around £60m for the player’s signature come the end of the season.
However, Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari reported last month that he can leave Leeds for just £20m in the event of relegation.
Given Leeds’ precarious position two points clear of safety, that remains a possibility.
Now, according to transfer expert Dean Jones, Raphinha is looking to quit Leeds this summer.
However, the Brazilian is desperate to save the club from relegation and depart Elland Road as a hero.
Talking to GIVEMESPORT, he said: “Obviously Raphinha is expected to leave but, between now and the end of the season, he’d love to be the guy that saves their season and goes out with a bang.”
Leeds keen to hold off on Raphinha sale
A fired-up Raphinha will be music to new coach Jesse Marsch’s ears. He will need his star man at full tilt if Leeds are to pull clear of the drop zone.
Regardless, a recent report states that Leeds have decided they won’t sell their star man this summer in the event of survival. Instead, officials at Elland Road have decided instead to hold off on his sale until January 2023 at the earliest.
That’s because the club expect him to impress for Brazil at the World Cup. Furthermore, some big performances in Qatar are likely to see his valuation sky-rocket.
Indeed, Leeds already ranks Raphinha at least in the £60m bracket. And that fee could ultimately move upward towards £80m in the wake of success with Selecao.
Raphinha has a total of 15 goals in 55 appearances for Leeds, who face Aston Villa on Thursday and Norwich on Sunday.
